• Dana Healey: Warrior 1 Yoga

    • Patriot, Entrepreneur, Philanthropist – this Bakersfield native, knew from a young age that she wanted to make a difference in people’s lives. After a modest childhood, the South High graduate joined the US army, specializing in logistics. Following a tour in Iraq, Dana continued her military service in a private capacity earning honors such as, “the first female ever to be employed by Blackwater Aviation.” For 10 years, she continued to advance her life and the lives of others in Iraq and Afghanistan until she was injured with a broken back and arm; a devastating blow to her ambitions. Though by age 31, she had seen and done far more than many successful folks can imagine in a life-time.

During her recovery at home in the states, Dana embraced the healing power of yoga, not just for the body, but also for the mind. It was then that she re-discovered her path, as she developed a business plan focused on helping people, especially veterans, with PTSD & physical disabilities. And Warrior 1 Yoga, was conceived.

Dana has a Bachelor’s in Business and multiple certifications in professional and fitness related fields. She obtained her Yoga certification in Thailand by completing internationally recognized 200 hour, and 500-hour Registered Yoga Alliance (RYT) certification programs. Dana now has over 13 years of experience in the fitness industry, providing personal training and Hot Yoga instruction to Soldiers and US contractors overseas. Since founding Warrior 1 in 2014, Dana has continued serving by providing free weekly classes to all veterans and has now opened her second location in Bakersfield.

Dana is also Owner of Wovet Construction, a licensed General Contractor & Solar Engineering firm, one of the few, if not only, disabled veteran, female-owned construction companies in the state. Dana’s mission with Wovet: to provide turn-key construction services, using all veteran labor.
