Step On Wine is committed to the demystification of wine. During this five-week course, we will explore California wines in all its various forms and flavors. You'll learn how wine is made, wine etiquette, how to order wine in a restaurant, why different regions are better suited to some varietals than others, pairing wine with food. We will demonstrate the symbiotic relationship between food and wine each week with appetizer pairings and the final week with a four-course dinner.

Week 1 – Basic red and white varietals:  Where does wine come from? How is wine made? How to order in a restaurant?  Wine etiquette lessons that will help you feel comfortable with other oenophiles.

Week 2 – White wines: an introduction to the varieties frequently found in our state.

Week 3 – Red wines: Some say a wine’s first duty is to be red. You’ll begin to understand why.

Week 4 – Appellations: Why does it matter where the wine comes from? You’ll find out.

Week 5 – Turning mere eating to dining: You’ll discover the symbiotic relationship between wine and food with a perfectly paired four-course, six wine dinner prepared by Executive Chef Mike Kelly.
